A Bean's Tale of Running

Hi. You may be wondering why the weird title? It may even be the reason you’re at all giving interest to this blog in he first place. Well...I'm not gonna tell you why it’s called this, yet! I'm a Senior Exercise Science student with a final goal of a Doctorate in Physical Therapy. I use to be a swimmer but then became a college student and ate and slept. To my dismay the freshmen 15 had mauled me. So, due to my two unstoppable friends I began to run...actually it was more of an attempt to move on land when I knew the only grace I ever had was in water. I ran my first 5 miler the Bethlehem Christmas City Classic 2008. And, I did another first the Steel Man Triathlon 2009 at Lake Nockamixon. I've now started a running blog which I have no clue how to really manage just like my running. I am now training..I think, I hope for my first Half Marathon and olympic distnace tri. So, join me as I learn how the heck to write a running blog and how to run.

WARNING:

For all you grammar savvy folks out there be forewarned. This is a blog that is created from the mind of a most enthusiastic endurance athlete..at least I like to think myself one. I live to laugh and I hope I'll bring you a smile. So, please enjoy this, on the side, fun blog about swimming, biking, running, college, and life.

lovely, really!

A quick update from London Town my friends! More is to follow, because my internet is not that great sooooo this is what I can do for now.
The BBC is fantastic I love this news channle and watch it every night while here. There are millions of resturants and stores, so many I don't know what to do with myself. Thank goodness tomorrow we will be off to Shop all over and go to Harrods...where I will only niff...(too expensive, clearly). I'm batteling a cold so I can't do as much as I would like too but, thats how it is. We saw the changing of the guard today, AND THEY HAVE A FIFE CORP! HAHAHA I love it! I saw the Rosetta stone (shut up!) and parliment, west minseter abby, Jersey Boys, the kings speach, the british museum, the national gallery, trafalgur square, licester square, and the University of London. Sadly, I have one battery left on my camera and I forgot to bring the charger...BUGGER! So, I will have to save the charge as best as I can.
I have to say this is a wonderful trip and rather enjoyable. I'm looking forward to buying a London souvenire for myself :D hehehe. What will I get...we shall have to see!

Cheers!

To London Chaps!

Hello for Murphys Ice Cream Shop in Dinlge, Ireland!
We took a little walk yesterday....

Yep, it just happened to be a 6mile beach walk. We arrived at our start point with our fearless leader Sean Pol, he pointed across the water and said in his Irish broge, "Ya see the yellow house across the water?" We all nodded dumbly... "That's were we be goin." Gasps filled the air! As one thought went through my head...I got to peeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...CRAP!!!!!
Yep, my bladder hates me, its as simple as that. So, what to do but do....
Yep...you figure out what that pictures all about.
So, with a free bladder and boots on my feet we trudged onward!
What a lovely walk it was! I'd describe more about it but Murphy's is getting crowded so I'll have to cut today short. We finished the walk with seashells in hand and a new view on the beachs of Ireland and Cows. (Cows charge you know). At the yellow house next door was a pub in which I had a cheese sandwhich and waited for the taxi. Now, we are preparing for the trip to London which we will depart at 5:30am and be flying out at 10:50am. Wish us luck!

Cheers!

Sláinte!

Sun over the coast.

The Blasket village.

Frightening Beauty

Oh Sheep.

What a fasinating trip. Currently, I am sitting in the last day of class at Diseart the Sacred Heart University branch in Dingle, Ireland.

We've had around five speakers each with their own thoughts to add. The greatest thing that we have learned is the closeness that the Irish faith has with nature and God. It retains it's old Celtic views of nature having the power of spirit/God and therefore needing much respect. This spirit is known as Neart in Irish. I personally love this take on faith and the catholic religion. I took a lovely stroll through the streets of Dingle after one particular class. It was raining, gray, and most would exclaim with disdain it was no day to be walking about. But, being in the mood that I was I flipped my hood up and trudged on. In most cases, when I walk or run, I keel my eyes down and watch the road under my feet but, not this time.

I kept my eyes up and leaned into my bag on my back and pushed through the rain and felt the crisp air. I strolled down to Murphy's Ice Cream were I discoverd the most wonderful flavor of ice cream known as Baileys. (I also got a bonus of free wifi hooray!) So, after buying myself a lovley claddagh with a celtic not twisted around the sides, I found myself up the street a block away from the cottages stopping breefly whenever I felt to take in the view. It was lovely.
Now most people on the trip are ready to return to the states and I myself would love to be once more in my lovely papason chair. Ah! But no! We will journey to London on Sunday morning!!! Yes! The dilemma of the moment is trying to get our luggage down to the proper weight for a Ryanair flight. So, wish me luck...and also tomorrow is the final deadline for Arcadia University's DPT application...I'm gonna here very soon about if i'm in the program!
So, lets see what happens.

Cheers!

Ireland

Greatings from Ireland the land of Guiness and scones. Currently I am sitting in a hotel library using the wifi which is the hottess commodity at this point during our travels.
To catch you all up, first semester senior year has been completed with a gpa of 3.8 and an overall gpa of 3.7 horrary it went up! The semester was nice with an attempt at a radio show which failed. The biggest let down was mentioned in my previouse post, that is, the posterior tibial tendionitis. I still have it..yep its been almost 3months and I still have that dang injury. I ran the Christmas City classic anyway...which might not have been the greatest idea but I did it anyway..so there.
Now to the present day. It just so happens the Ireland trip came into existence and Nicole and I therefore traveled to Dingle Ireland.
To start the flight made us all into a lovely milk shake due to the exsesive amount of turbulence we encountered...lets just say that when the flight attendent gave a look to another flight attendent of...oi...and then stone cold nothing. I had a little panic moment and began to say a few hail mary's.
Luckly, we landed in SNN airport and got on the buses to Dingle. Once arrived we checked into the cottages and had a lovely time disscoving our limited source of tolet paper and the comfey beds. A short tour of the town followed and later dinner at a small pub where the meanu consisted of the usual suspects. Fish and Cips, Sheapersd Pie, and some form of chicken or meat thing.
Sadly, what then occured was dissapointing and frustrating. Many of the students on the trip had decided this holiday in Ireland would be what we call a Sh** show. Every night was a reocurrance of the same binge drinking. Luckly, there are many students like myself and nicole that had the same view of ferreting out the cultur instead of the contents of our stomach. So, here we are now in Killarny for a date with the Blarney stone and some good shopping. I personally have made my first purchase of none edible objects, consisting of wool slippers!
We will be departing soon for dingle again where the small few of us wish to sleep and creep. While the others most likely hydrate in there most dehydrating short of way.
Enjoy and Cheers!
